Taxes help pay for road construction, maintenance and safety. Here are examples of the actual cost of some services:

  • Maintaining and upgrading Québec’s road, shipping, rail and airport networks represent a $5.4 billion investment from 2020 to 2022.See note 1
  • The expansion and repair work on highway 73 (Henri-IV) in Québec City will cost about $291 million. It will cost the province about $162 million.See note 2
  • Maintenance work on highway 40 (Métropolitaine) in Montréal costs about $232 million and is paid for entirely by the province.See note 3
